How You Can Help
We run regular working bees to complete important ecological restoration work around the Maketū estuary, lower Kaituna River, and Waihī estuary.
Tasks for the working bees normally include planting native species, removing non native plants, and collecting litter.
We reward your hard work with sausage sizzles or coffee and muffin breaks to show our appreciation! Not to mention good company, beautiful scenery and interesting wildlife! If you would like to be added to our volunteer list please contact Awhina at awhina@maketuwetlands.org.nz.
We also welcome helpers for our education program, both in the classroom and in the field. If you are interested then please contact our Education Officer Janie at janie@maketuwetlands.org.nz.
