How You Can Help

We run regular working bees and work days to complete important ecological restoration work around the Maketū estuary, lower Kaituna River, and Waihī estuary.

Tasks for the working bees normally include planting native species, removing non native plants, and collecting litter.

We reward your hard work with sausage sizzles or coffee and muffin breaks to show our appreciation! Not to mention good company, beautiful scenery and interesting wildlife! If you would like to be added to our volunteer list please contact our volunteer coordinator Awhina at awhina@maketuwetlands.org.nz.

We also welcome helpers for our education program, both in the classroom and in the field. If you are interested then please contact our Education Team Leader Janie on janie@maketuwetlands.org.nz.

Feel free to let us know if you have any particular skills or qualifications you think might be of use,

You can also help by becoming a member or making a donation. Please follow these links to find out more. Or you can contact us to ask to be put on our email list to receive regular updates about us and other conservation related groups and events.
